Ann Neubert was a devoted Montessori educator who taught children, founded schools, established and taught in teacher education programs, and wrote books describing Montessori philosophy and positive classroom leadership.
She founded the Northeast Montessori Institute in Boston, MA in 1984 and the Orlando, FL satellite program in 1988. Ann directed both programs until her untimely death in Sept. 1990.
The Orlando Montessori Teacher Education Institute is now directed by Helen DeVere and the Northeast Montessori Institute by Martha Monahan. As former instructors with Ann, they both want to continue the excellent programs that Ann had begun and honor her legacy of inspiring hundreds of teachers during her twenty-three years of dedication and service to the Montessori Method of teaching. The circle of influence continues to expand as the students she taught have now taught thousands of children. Ann’s life touched many people and continues to do so through her writings and memories shared by those who knew her. Her intelligence, humor, sincerity, and integrity were greatly admired.
Always looking for new ideas and better ways to help children learn, Ann began designing clear containers for Montessori and teacher-made materials in the early 1980’s. The containers on this website were designed by her and have been used in classrooms all over the world. They were designed to offer an alternative way to present the materials, often using them for variations or to arouse new interest. Some of her later designs offered new and innovative ways to display the math and language materials.
Ann’s insight, creativity, and inspiration will live on in the hearts and minds of those who were touched by her, as we dedicate ourselves to continuing to provide excellence in all aspects of Montessori education.
